You may have heard about the mind-boggling prizes given by lotteries across the world like the Mega Millions (#280 crore), the Powerball (#280 crore), and the Euro Millions (#14500 crore). Though there isn’t quite a lottery in India that matches up to these international lotteries, one lottery does stand out in terms of scale, prize amount, and popularity among all other lotteries held in India — the Kerala lottery.

About Kerala Lottery

The Kerala lotteries were born out of necessity for supplementing government finance without depleting employment opportunities at a time when private gambling institutions were being curbed. The seed planted by the then Finance Minister of Kerala, P. K. Kunju Sahib went to become a full-fledged state-organized lottery under the Department of Finance in 1967.

The biggest weekly lottery directly provides financial support to Kerala citizens that can’t afford medical bills from Cancer, Hemophilia, and Kidney and Heart diseases. SECRET CODE AND BARCODE TICKET NUMBER AND BARCODE
  • Lottery Number

The lottery number is printed in the top right of your lottery ticket. Also called the draw number, it indicates the lottery and the number of the draw of that lottery for which you’ve bought the ticket. The lottery number is usually represented by two alphabets and two digits joined by a dash. The alphabetical part denotes the name of the lottery while the number tells you the draw.

For example, AK-67 means your ticket is for the 67th draw of the Akshaya lottery while NR-50 means you’re participating in the 50th draw of the Nirmal lottery. Always note the current draw numbers of a lottery before buying a ticket. You don’t want to buy a ticket for, say the 54th draw of a lottery when the upcoming one is the 55th. Tickets from previous draws are considered invalid.

  • Secret Number and Barcode

You’ll find a secret number and an associated barcode in the bottom left of a Kerala lottery ticket. Each ticket comes with a unique secret code that’s supposed to be kept a secret by the ticket holder. Since the secret code is used as a verification method to prevent forgery, you should not reveal yours to anyone else.

  • Ticket Number and Barcode

The ticket number and its associated barcode are printed in the bottom right part of your lottery ticket. This number is made up of two alphabets followed by a six-digit numeric code. When the lottery draw results are announced, you’ll have to compare them with this very number.

  • Counterfoil Number and Seal

The right edge of your Kerala lottery ticket has a counterfoil number and a seal. You may notice that the number and seal seem to have been split in half by the ticket’s edge. This is done on purpose, as the other halves of this number and seal are kept in the district office and used for verification purposes for bigger prizes.

  • Agent’s Seal

While buying the ticket, make sure there’s an Agent’s Seal on the back. This seal is also used for verification of legitimacy during prize payment.

Where Can I Find Kerala Lottery Results?

The date of the lottery’s draw is mentioned on every ticket. The draw is conducted at 3:00 PM on the draw date and the results are published in the official Kerala Lottery website on the same day. The results are also printed in the Kerala Government Gazette. However, if you want clear information about the exact draw date and 24/7 updated results, you can find them on this very page. We’ve dedicated this page to all Kerala lottery results and important results for the convenience of all lottery participants.
